Calvin, you were part of the glue that held the students of Aycock and Enloe together when Raleigh finally desegregated the public schools.  You bridged a gap we were all concerned about to some degree when the schools were merged.  You were always singing, whistling, and dancing down the halls with a huge smile on your face, yet always the gentleman.  Thank you for your big, happy heart and love for all of us. Students like you helped us make history. I enjoyed our visit at the 2010 reunion, I sat in your lap!  This earth is a sadder place with you gone, but Heaven is a much brighter place with your smile and love while singing, whistling, and dancing down the Golden Streets.  Thank you for being my friend.

Calvin was one of my best friends in school. { especially the 7 the grade} He showed me what it meant to be a true friend during my early years as a white boy learning that a black boy was not  any different than me. He helped teach me that all are equal under Gods Eyes. He will be missed by me and I know he is in a better place. Rest in Peace my friend. Wayne Ellis
